RWE npower has submitted for planning permission to build 5 windmills on a site called Orchard Way near to Haversham and Little Linford villages and about 6 miles from Milton Keynes. This website provides details about this proposed project and allows you to submit your support for this excellent opportunity to produce more clean, green energy.
How much energy will the wind turbines provide?
RWE npower renewables currently estimate the site could be suitable for up to 5 wind turbines which would generate an amount of electricity equivalent to supplying the approximate domestic needs of up to 6,400 average UK households each year.
Where in the process is it at?
RWE npower has now applied for planning permission as of September 2011.(PLEASE SEE 'LATEST NEWS' or 'SUPPORT' PAGE FOR DETAILS OF HOW TO SUPPORT THIS PROJECT)
Why do we need this?
There is now clear evidence that global warming and climate change are a reality that will have damaging
effects on sea levels, water supplies and current agricultural patterns, worldwide.
The UK's Renewable Energy Strategy, written in 2009, states a target of generating 15% of all the UK's energy from renewables
by 2020 which means that about 30% of electricity will have to come from green sources. A large share will come from wind energy delivering
over 60 billion pounds of investment and creating 160,000 green collar jobs.
Even without concerns over global warming, conventional fuels are finite and will at some stage in the future become incapable
of meeting the world's energy needs.
